Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how ReVision Africa (“we”, “us”) collects and uses information when you use the ReVision Vision API website, live demo, developer registration, and related services (the “Service”).
Who this applies to
- Developers who register for an API key and integrate the Vision API into their applications.
- Visitors who browse our API documentation or use the public live demo.
- End users of third-party apps that call the Vision API: those apps must provide their own privacy notice; see “Your responsibilities as an integrator” below.
Information we collect
- Registration data: organization name, contact name, email, and optional phone or website when you create a developer account.
- API usage metadata: endpoint called, session identifier, a short preview of the question (up to 500 characters), image size in bytes, success or failure, HTTP status, timestamp, IP address, and browser user-agent string for billed API requests.
- Payment records: package purchased, amount, simulated payment reference, and last four digits of a test card when using the demo payment gateway.
- Vision request content: images and questions you submit to
askandchatare processed to generate descriptions. We do not permanently store full images in the Vision API database; they are transmitted to our vision processing service for the duration of the request. - Audio feedback: when you request spoken responses, text answers are sent to our speech synthesis service to generate MP3 audio returned to you.
- Demo usage: live demo requests (without an API key) are not billed and are not linked to a developer account, but we may log limited metadata (endpoint, session id, question preview, IP, and user-agent) for abuse prevention. Images and questions are still processed by upstream vision and speech services.
How we use information
- Provide, operate, and improve the Vision API.
- Authenticate API keys and enforce call limits and billing.
- Monitor reliability, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot errors.
- Communicate with developers about accounts, support, and service updates.
- Produce aggregated, non-identifying statistics for internal reporting.
Legal bases (where applicable)
We process personal data on the basis of contract performance (providing the API you signed up for), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, and service improvement), and consent where required (for example, optional marketing communications if we offer them separately).
Sharing and processors
We use trusted infrastructure and service providers to run the Vision API, including:
- Hosting and database services for account and usage data.
- Cloud vision analysis for image understanding.
- Cloud text-to-speech for optional audio feedback.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to operate the Service, comply with law, or protect rights and safety. Provider names and sub-processor details are available on request.
Retention
- Developer account data is kept while your account is active and for a reasonable period after closure for legal and billing purposes.
- API usage logs are retained for operational and security review; aggregated records may be kept longer.
- Images submitted for vision analysis are not retained in our API database after processing completes.
Security
We use HTTPS, access controls, and industry-standard practices to protect data. API keys must be kept confidential. Never embed production keys in public client-side code. See our Data Protection policy for more detail.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@revisionafrica.com.
Your responsibilities as an integrator
If you build an app that sends end-user photos or questions to the Vision API, you are responsible for informing those users, obtaining any required consent, and publishing your own privacy policy that explains how their images and questions are processed through ReVision’s services.
Children
The Vision API developer portal is intended for organizations and developers. Integrators must comply with applicable laws when serving minors.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
